Skin Rejuvenation
(Photo rejuvenation)
Photo rejuvenation is a breakthrough treatment that can correct a variety of skin conditions with one technology. Often considered the most effective skin treatment available today, photo rejuvenation is the ideal solution for pigmentation problems, sun damage, freckles, acne, redness and broken capillaries.
At Evolve Cosmetic Clinic, we understand the apprehension that can be associated with undergoing a new cosmetic procedure. Rest assured that our caring and experienced dermal therapists will take the time to address any concerns during your initial complimentary consultation. Your treatment will be tailored to you as an individual and you will receive honest, professional advice and a realistic expected outcome.
How does IPL rejuvenate the skin?
Pulses of safe, filtered light penetrate the epidermis, or top layer of the skin targeting the dermis underneath where the melanin and haemoglobin reside. The affected cells are destroyed and either absorbed via the lymphatic system or removed by the body (micro crusting). A beneficial side effect of this treatment is the stimulation of collagen production, improving skin texture and fine lines and restoring the skin to a more youthful state.
What can I expect?
The sensation of the treatment is often described as similar to the feeling of a hot rubber band flicking against the skin. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second and a mild sunburn sensation is experienced for a short time afterward.
The ability to regulate the wavelength of light emitted during photo rejuvenation enables safe and successful treatment of the face, hands, arms, back, legs and sensitive chest area. Following treatment, the skin will display a temporary redness (erythema) with most people able to return to work or normal activities the next day.
How do I prepare for my skin treatment?
In order to ensure optimal results from your treatment whilst minimising any potential discomfort, it is recommended that the following guidelines are adhered to:
- The area must be protected from UV exposure one month pre and post treatment
- Fake tan should not be applied 3 weeks prior to treatment
- The treated area should not be exfoliated for one to two weeks post treatment
How many skin rejuvenation treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies from client to client and is largely dependent on the nature of the condition and skin type. For best results, we typically suggest a series of treatments spaced at fortnightly to monthly intervals. In our experience, some clients only require one treatment to resolve their condition whilst others may require as many as five. Photo rejuvenation is generally a very quick procedure with small areas taking only 15 minutes or 30 minutes for a full face.
