Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers are substances which can be injected into the skin to enhance appearance and decrease the effects of ageing on the face. Dermal Fillers can add contours, create volume, fill lines and hydrate the skin. Dr Messiha utilises a specific product for the treatment of lips, lines, wrinkles and facial folds. This product has been in use since 1996 and over 10 million treatments have been performed with the results immediate.
How long does the Dermal Filler last?
The product lasts 6 - 12 months depending on the area being treated, depth of lines, the condition of the skin and the lifestyle of the individual treated.
Will people know I have had a treatment?
It is common for people not to notice the exact change, rather they recognise a subtle difference which may be expressed as 'looking well' or 'refreshed'.
How much does it cost?
Treatment costs vary depending on the amount of product used. Costs are charged per vial and discounts are given for multiple vials. Dr Gina Messiha provides client consultations, where treatment options are discussed and an accurate indication of price is provided.
Does the treatment hurt?
Treatment involves injections into the skin, therefore you may experience some discomfort, however local anaesthetic and topical creams can be used to minimise any pain.
What are the side effects?
Side effects may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. Swelling is the most likely side effect because the dermal filler attracts water and hydrates the area which has been treated. Tenderness and swelling generally last 2 - 3 days.
Where does the dermal filler go when it is broken down?
It will naturally bio-degrade and is slowly metabolised at the treatment site over time.
What will I look like if I decide against further treatment? Will I be more wrinkled?
If you don't have any further treatments, the skin will return to its natural pre treatment state. However, the dermal filler used by Dr Messiha has been clinically proven to stimulate new collagen growth, which may aid in improving the quality and texture of the skin.
Who can be treated?
Most people are suitable candidates, provided that:
- you are not pregnant or breast feeding
- you do not have a medical condition that affects the nervous system
- you do not have an existing infection or skin problem in the areas to be treated
Can I have wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers on the same day?
If it is in the same area it is advised to have 2 weeks between the treatments.
